OUR RESERVES continued their winning form with a 1-3 league win over hosts Westminster Wanderers U23s.
Having won the Politics 4-1 in a cup game last weekend, the Rovers Reserves faced Westminster Wanderers U23s needing a league win after forfeiting the game versus Clapham Common two weeks back. A very much dead first half, the Rovers pressed but rushed when in possession with easy giveaways and simple long balls. Frazer pulled a number of great saves along with great communication. Savva nearly came to scoring with a freekick and a 1-on-1 opportunity which both went over to end the 1st half goalless.
Norbert chose to make three substitutions at half-time, which changed the game around. Abdulelah made a good run on the left before being fouled. Giordi followed-up with the penalty to open the scoring. Jordan, also on as a sub, made a great pass for Giorgio who made no mistake and made the most of the 1-on-1 opportunity to make it 2-0. With the Rovers constantly pressing and attacking, a rebounded shot fell to Santiago, who did not miss and made the scoreline 3-0. Some miscommunication in defense allowed the Wanderer U23s to score a late consolation as the match ended 3-1 to the Rovers.
Frazer took his place in goal with his first official match for the Rovers, with Iman and Tristan immediately in front of him as centre backs. Dejan and Jump completed the back line in right back and left back respectively. Ricardo supported the defense as a defensive central midfielder, while Abela held firm in central midfield. Michael Savva and Giorgio lined-up on either wing while Harjoth and Giordi led the front line as striker and shadow striker to complete the line-up. Ionut, Jordan, Santiago, Joseph, and Abdulelah started from the bench.
